Now available: TWO image databases! (Getty & Corbis)

June 2008
The NEiA Library now provides access to two image databases: Getty Images and Corbis. Both provide high-resolution stock images for use in your school projects, and are accessible from school, home, or anyplace with a 'net connection!

To use Getty, visit the circulation (front) desk at the library and ask to sign up! We’ll need you to sign a license form, and then we’ll give you an instructional handout that includes username and password.

To use Corbis, grab an updated "Electronic Resources from Home" handout from the kiosk near the reference desk (in back of the library). Use the subscription code to create a Corbis account for yourself.

Any questions? Any library staff person would be happy to help you!

WE'RE IN! - THE FENWAY LIBRARY CONSORTIUM, THAT IS!

NEiA students, faculty and staff now have access to the rich resources owned by other colleges in the area.

"To use the other libraries, NEiA students, faculty and staff must have a NEiA library barcode affixed to their current college ID. This will allow our users to register for library cards at FLC libraries," says Library Director Dr. Mary Ann Tricarico. She also notes, “Library privileges vary at each institution and are determined by the local library’s policies."

Check the FLC website at http://www.fenwaylibraries.org for the complete list of members with links to their catalogs and policies and for directions to the libraries.

BY THE BOOK

The New England Institute of Ar's library is now designated as an official NEDMA (New England Direct Marketing Association) Library. Cheryl Amantea, Chair of Advertising, started to build an updated collection of 61 direct marketing books and sources thus far that students in the metro Boston / greater New England area can use when they study direct marketing.

Also called direct response or direct selling, this specialized form of advertising campaign is driven by databases and it targets very narrow consumer segments and has measurable, ' trackable ' results. Direct marketing seeks to elicit an action (such as place an order or visit a website) from a prospective consumer. Media formats for direct marketing include postal mail, telemarketing, direct email marketing, point of purchase activities, and more.
